Far from being the fastest, strongest, or best--I am committed. In 2018 I completed my first olympic distance triathlon. When I started college in 2010, I couldn't swim freestyle, hadn't ever ridden a bike with gears, and had never participated in a race of any kind.
It became a personal goal to complete a triathlon. I took years of swim courses at NMSU and Yale, got myself a geared bike (proudly displayed in picture #4), and started racing--with my first 5K being the New Haven 5K in 2015. In January of 2018, I felt confident enough to begin practicing with the Yale Triathlon club team to compete in September.
Outside of triathlon training my other athletics related hobbies include:
snorkeling (& soon scuba diving)
1st degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do (past)
Pre-COVID-19 I was fortunate to have traveled to several countries during my PhD including: Japan, Turkey, Italy, & Germany. The most beautiful part about my experiences traveling is that I always went or stayed with friends who had family in the area and spoke the language. Traveling this way allowed me to immersed in the cultures and family life in these countries--something I will forever treasure! Can't wait to start traveling again!
My partner, Tanyeri, and I have 3 dogs, 1 crested gecko, and a bunch of tropical fish. I love all animals and wanted to be a veterinarian when I was a kid!
